Protected Areas Management

Protected Areas Management

Protected Areas Management are the backbone of biodiversity conservation in Tanzania and beyond. Their importance is increasingly due to their significant contributions to socio-economic development and community well-being through tourism as well as ecosystem services.

The overarching goal of the HWC Foundation is to position Tanzania’s Protected Areas within the broader goal of economic development through increasing public understanding of the vital role Protected Areas play in conserving biodiversity and delivering the ecosystem services that underpin human welfare and livelihoods. We also aim to support protected areas’ assessment for the best contribution to socio-economic development using the most advance assessment tools such as IMET and PAME.
