An Overview of the HWC Foundation

Human Wildlife Conflict Foundation

About 29% of Tanzanian land is protected in the form of National Parks, Game Reserves, Game Controlled Areas and Wildlife Management Areas and human-wildlife conflicts have been of growing concern to agricultural and pastoral communities living in proximity to these areas. Agricultural sector which is a backbone to many small holder farmers is significantly affected by the conflicts associated by crop damage and livestock depredation caused by movement of wild animals in human-wildlife interface hence disrupting the livelihoods of people.

Through our team of diverse experts, the HWC foundation aim to enhance a safe and healthy coexistence between the two conflicting parts that shares the ecosystems. We work to support local communities, protected and conservation areas agencies, and other stakeholders to mitigate the conflicts for the benefit of both conservation and the well-being of people
